Office Network

Hello,

Just joined the forum. So here’s my question:

I am considering to create a network in my office. The following devices are to be connected together:

1. My PC
2. Colleague’s PC
3. HP Laser Printer

The purpose of this exercise is to:

1. Share files/work on same files at the same time in a folder, which is available for both PCs

2. Use the same printer

What equipment/cables is needed for this network? Also, any software will be required separately too?

Nothing seems special here. Your IT should be done in under one hour.

At our office we don’t use cables for the computers and printer. We have a WiFi router connected to the cable modem. Today you may not even have that much as the ISP now supplies a combo router and modem with WiFi. Very easy and not a single cable or added equipment.

You do not need any cable or equipment for connecting your HP laser printer with PCs.
Connect the printer with your computer
Go to Network and Sharing Center
Click to enable the Share this printer
Now other users on the network can now add the printer to their computers
