Office XP

When i create a new email message and click the to: box my address book comes up but the icons that are normally beside the names are not there and the first two names are blank but if you click on them they appear and they are the hotmail accounts i have on the system.
I checked in display settings to see if a color was wrong and since the everything beside the names is in white i check for any white color font and change it to black but to no avail.
Does anybody have any idea why the hotmail accounts would be white out and the icons on the left of the names be gone. I am running windows 2000. Thanks.
