Office XP Outlook issue

By gknicks71 ·
I just re-installed Outlook XP, and it was working fine yesterday, and today It will not even send or recieve. It does nothing when I hit the buttom. I tested the settings from the test settings button, and they work fine. I ahve it set to send and recieve on shutoff, and when i shut it down the send recieve window comes up, but does nothing. I did the detect and repair, but it corrected nothing.

Try clicking Tools\Options, Mail Setup tab, Send and Receive button. Under "When Outlook is Online" make sure that "Include this group in send/receive (F9)." is checked. If it's not, clicking send/receive will do nothing. Hope your problem is this simple!

I have another question upon Office XP Outlook issue.

When I received emails with *.exe file attachments, I'm unable to save the attachment file to my HDD. How do I disable this function?
As I know that the Outlook had detected the *.exe extension file and due to security issue, it had automatically blocked my mails. But it had caused me lots of troubles as I had forward my work files from office home to office and I find that I can't open the attached file.

A workaround for sending .exe files via Outlook:
Outlook security classifies .exe files as Level 1 file types and blocks them. If you use Exchange, the administrator can remove the .exe file type from Level 1, but you'd have to do that on both endsunless the pc's are networked together. However, the simple answer is to zip up the file and send it. Save the .zip file to disk, unzip it, and you're in like Flynn.

The problem may be with your profile, Outlook xp does not like to be uninstalled. Try creating a new profile and reconfigure it to your settings.

Hope this helps
