Office2K MBR issue

By Gus3 ·
I recently performed an NT4 w/s install on a Dell PC which previously had Off2k installed(the main reason for the reformat in the 1st place) After the O/S reload, some Office2K stuff is still present. I believe this is because it writes to the MBR. Is there an easy way around this (avoiding a format of the HDD) which will allow the total removal of Office2K?

On Microsoft's Knowledgebase site, there's an article (Q219423) that gives you a utility that will completely remove Office 2K from your computer for all the programs installed from CD1. Also, it offers RegClean, which you can use to clean your registry. And if you want to manually remove Office 2K, the article also lists at the end all the files and registry entries that need to be removed. Good luck!

Did you delete office 2000 with the Add/Remove,go to add remove and open the pane, look for apps pertaining to win2000 and select and click the remove button, then you can go to Windows Explorer and locate the Applications on the hard drive and deleteall folders pertaining to office 2k.good luck

We've come across this problem quite a few times with Dell s preinstalled with Office 2000. Tried all the technet solutions but the OS still knows that Office 2000 has been their. Only solution that works is to run fdisk with the mbr switch and then reinstall.

It'll only take you an hour or two if you download all the drivers from dells website first. Dells driver website is the best I've seen.
