Hi,
I work for a banking organisation and amongst other things we have Remote Workers that connect to the Banks network remotely.
The remote laptop workers are setup with Local profiles as a restriction applied with their group policies.
Offline folder and file sync is a useful commodity however we have a major problem. Offline folder syn is used to create offline copy of their network personal drive.
The network personal drive is setup with \\servername\share. Occasionally we have server migrations and server decommissonment. When this change occurs we move the Users Share to another server (we’ll call this \\servername2\share).
When the server is changed the User gets failed synchronised issues as the 1st server\share is no longer available on the network.
How can I disable the Offline cache so that it does not try to sync with the unavailable initial server? and how can I re-point the Offline sync to point to the new location without disabling the whole feature.
Please advise – its the biggest headache when migrating servers.
PS – its also worth noting that alot of the colleagues in the bank have group policies that restrict the amount of access the User has. Only local admins can get total access but local admins have to login as themselves.
Any help appreciated.
