oh, just to funny...

By Jaqui ·
Someone I know, who absolutely adores Microsoft's products told me today:

"Well I'm using Apache for my webserver, because IIS is to hard to get running"

gotta love it when a microsoft fanatic sees the light for open source, finding out it's actually easier to use.

Too late to save money though

I suppose that particular move wouldn't have saved any money if they still had to purchase Windows. It's a step in the right direction. Maybe when the Windows OS that they are using to run Apache reaches its end of life they will consider using an open source operating system.

maybe, but I doubt it...

he's gone from talking about only developing in c++ to using visual basic and vb.net

so, while he's wising up to open source, I doubt he'll ever move from crashware as os.
[ his "linux box" is his router/firewall appliance. ]

apache on a linux box.

My companies web page is running on a PIIpro running redhat and apache, and loads much faster than the TR site does. That includes the many pdf and cad drawings as we are in manufacturing.

Funny to look at the log files to see the windows viruses out there trying to attack the server. Sorry, not going to find "that" file "there"! B-)
