the next move you guys are planning.
Prior to all this there were discussions on various items, such as cleaning up the Tech Q&A situation, My Discussions, Blogs, and several other items, which I can’t recall at the moment. There was also talk about changing the look and layout of TR. Where does that all stand now???
Considering what’s been happening lately, have you got TR stabilized sufficiently to institute these changes without sending it into another tailspin?? One item I’m almost positive you could eliminate immediately withoit complaints from anyone is the mandatory tagging business. So far it has been more annoying than useful and I doubt very many would miss it. The idea of putting blogs on a blog sight and providing a link, is another good idea and might ease the demand on bandwidth somewhat. I never could figure out why the blogs were added to TR in the first place. The idea of putting them on a blog sight and providing a link, is a good one. I don’t have a blog, won’t have a blog and hardly ever read blogs, because I have yet to see one worth a damn and I can only speculate on the the emotional and intellectual destitution of the lives of those who feel a need to post and maintain them. Kind of sad, really, when you stop to think about it.
Blogs are helpful for some people working through some sort of emotional crisis but once the crisis has passed, I have noticed the interest in their blog seems to wane and it just lies there taking up resources for no good purpose. Why they were ever made a part of TR is beyond me when the idea of linking to a blog site would have been the more elegant and effective solution.
I think there are several items that could be added to TR that would be almost universally welcomed (No I won’t beat the drum for my favouite one here. Jay can now heave a sigh of relief.) but many that could be easily dropped which the majority would barely miss or would be glad to see gone. My Workspace might fall into the category of the latter. I would imagine the idea is to streamline TR to improve functionality and the ability to maintain it. Please keep us posted on what and when we can expect it. You guys have been doing a great job but I sometimes think you are trying too hard to be too many things to all people. It’s like a dog walking on its hind legs; you don’t marvel at how well he does it but at the fact he can do it at all.
Anyway, just a few of my ideas, for whatever they’re worth.
