Old NDS Objects

By KurtJB ·
I would like to clean up some of the old objects in NDS but I'm a little leery of just deleting the objects that seem to not be needed any longer.
One thought that I had was to create a new Container and Move the suspected old unneeded objects into this container. Then if it turns out I do need them I could just move them back. At least that is my theory.

Can anyone comment on whether or not this would work in the manner that I am thinking? Or, if anyone has a better idea to accomplish the same result.

Thanks!

Mostly printer objects and users.
There are also some other objects that I'm not sure of but refer to old servers. I'm pretty sure I could safely delete them but I would rather not for a while.

I ran across this before. I did a backup of the object I felt that we did not need anymore and put them on tape or disk. If I needed them i could go back and restore. Hope this might help

If you are sure they are not longer active, printer & user objects can be safely deleted. if you are unsure, your idea of moving them to a different OU is a good one. Move them, wait a few days to see if anyone notices. For user objects, when you go into the properties sheet, you can look to see when was the last time that users logged in (Login or Password page, iirc).

The same would hold true for moving other objects, I suspect. Approach with caution, though if the object's icon is a yellow question mark. This usually means that NWADMIN is missing a plug-in that's needed to manipulate that object correctly.
