one CPU, two users?

By TechSerf ·
I saw on Dave Chalks' computer show a few years ago, a way to share one computer between two users. Now, that I actually have a use for it, I can't find it.

I've found reverse KVM that all seem to be only one user at a time.

Can anyone tell me how to get the computer to allow two simultaneous users, doing different tasks?

Thanks!

Terminal Services software, like Citrix Metaframe, or Windows 2000 Terminal Services.

terminal services would require that there is at least 1 terminal server, and at least 1 other pc/dumb terminal to access the terminal services. this is not what I was asking.

my post asked for "one cpu, two users", meaning, one cpu, two mice, two keyboards, and two monitors.

but, thanks for your reply anyway.

The item you are looking for used to be available from TigerDirect.com as late as Winter of 1999. However, their customer support line is unaware of it and a search of their web site failed to find it.

I am trying to get the specifics for you, but as I recall it was specific to TigerDirect and if so, has apparently been discontinued. If you are still interested, I will check with the individual I bought it for and see if he is willing to sell it to you. Contact me via peer directory.

What you are thinking of is "PC Buddy", which came out in 1999. See http://tinyurl.com/xjgd

The manufacturer is Applica, found at http://www.applica.com/Home.asp or http://tinyurl.com/xjhz

Hope this helps. The individual I had provided one to back in 1999 is not interested in giving it up, so it must work fairly well - it lets his son and wife share a system.
