One NIC to have multiple(switching) TCP/

By lists ·
I have a laptop that I want connected to the Internet at both work (LAN) and home (DSL). In order to do that I have to MANUALLY update TCP/IP settings (DNS, IP address, WINS Server) every time I move between work and home.

Is there any way to automate this process?
thanks

Ok first thought would be DHCP. But that might not be doable for you. You can add multiple IP Addreses under advanced in TCP/IP Properties. You can also have up to 3 DNS Servers under your DNS Settings. And 2 WINS Servers one for work and one forhome.

I would give that a shot if you can't use DHCP. If you have DHCP just release the IP Address before you shutdown.

Hope that helps

Timber, my IP address at work is given out by DHCP, but I have a static address at home.
Having settings for both home and work (DNS, WINS, domain search order) left my pc really confused -- it times out and never resolves an address.

Thanks foryour help,
vlad
