I was recently laid-off, and having transitioned into an IT role from an engineering position, my job title was not remotely related to my duties. The parting was very amicable and my previous employer has agreed to change my title to something more appropriate, along with providing an excellent reference. My question is this, what is an appropriate title for the following position?
For the past several years, I have been, literally, the one man IT department at a small company, performing all administration and support roles. I managed all aspects including: telecom/data, email & web hosting, remote access, purchase/lease and installation of all workstations and other equipment, etc. In addition I transitioned the network from Netware to a Win2000 Active Directory Domain, performing the entire process from design to implementation myself.
