One time installation floppy disk

By metallica ·
I am using a program that comes with a floppy disk that you must put in when installing the program.I would like to copy the floppy disk so i can have it for a backup in case of disk failure the company wants 75.00 for a new disk..Here is the problem after you use the floppy once it is no good anymore.Even with the floppy locked something is writing to it how is this possible?I now have a new floppy key and would like to back it up before i install but i know windows can change things too evn just by opening a floppy

All you need to do is make a copy of the diskette. I use a real old free program called hd-copy
that easily copies diskettes by image. You can even save the image to your hard drive and make many copies from it.

That is what the problem is the disk cannot be copied. If you try and copy it all the files get copied but it still doesnt work.I think they damage part of the disk so you cannot copy it

Another is to use a program such as winimage to image it.

Once, i found sucess in using diskcopy a: a:, but I do not know if it will work in this circumstance.

Last one - if you know a person with a Mac, use it, as PCs dont know what Macs do and vice versa. (if you dont belive me, try getting a downloaded classic mac app to the calssic mac without a modem/network card )

It would seem to me the obvious answer is to mount the floppy in a Linux filesystem and use dd to copy the image. The floppy will never know it was touched.

Winimage created the proper disk but it still will not copy one file.I cant even read the file. The only way to access the file is with the installation cd.I think they put it on the disk after the damaged sector
