Online Backup Options for SMB

By Dennis Miller ·
I just began working for a relatively small cabinet manufacturer. They are currently using a tape backup process. I would like to recommend moving to a more reliable (and yet cost effective) backup system.
I have been searching for comparable online backup services similar to Iron Mountain's LiveVault, but have not had much luck. Can someone recommend other vendors or web resources?

Thanks,
Dennis

USB HD and Symantec Livestate

by acubedm In reply to Online Backup Options for ...

I have started using large USB hard drives combined with Symantec's Livestate to back up smaller clients. It's easy to train someone to switch the HDs out every day and Livestate is basically a hot, live Ghost image. Most of my clients only need 3 rotating backups, so the cost of the HDs are minimal. The main problem I have with off-site, online backup services is the length of time to restore a server from scratch. Restoring a 100 GB server could be painful.

I recommend Rhinoback

by jim.azar In reply to Online Backup Options for ...

Rhinoback, http://www.rhinoback.com is an online backup provider that is specifically targeted towards small and medium sized businesses. Their prices are affordable and the encryption, security, and redundancy is at least as good as the high-prices services. Sorry if this is too late.

Online Backup SMB

by jsparks In reply to Online Backup Options for ...

Hi Drew:

There are many options available to you. I work for Asigra Inc which is a provider of backup software for service providers and enterprises. We have been doing this for more than 20 years. I have many service providers that can work with you, or I can provide you software as well. Take a look at our website at www.asigra.com and if you would like to contact me for a list of cost effective service providers in Oregon (or out side of the territory for more disaster recovery) let me know. I can be reached at jason.sparks@asgira.com or 503.544.9911.

Good luck,

Jason Sparks
