Online Backups

Has anyone had any experience, or heard anything good or bad about these online backup sites: virtualbackup.com, atbackup.com, or back-it-up.com?

Thanks!

Online Backups

The question in this case should not be whether the sites are good or bad in their DR practices or support but how important the data is to you that is being backed up.

a) can you trust a third party with your data backup?

b) can you guaranteethe integrity of the backup during a lengthy process? (imagine backing up a msexchange database.. gigs possibly)

c) Internet bandwidth now becomes an extra issue to deal with

d) Availability of the backup site itself is another factor to add to the DR equation.. what is the site DR strategy? do they have an affiliate? or a recovery plan for their own site?

Honestly I would think it not worth the trouble at this stage. With the money you are going to use either buying the space or upgrading your link you could just as well buy a few extra tapes and drives and keep the media safe and sound nearby in a fireproof safe.

hope this helps,

jb
