Only administrator can block PC

By Josep_M ·
When in WIN2K press Ctrl+Alt+Del, there is a menu dialog that offer an option to block the PC.
I want that the user can't block the PC (only Administrators can do It)
It's that possible? Policies, regedit?
Thanks a lot

Josep M.

You have to be running Active Directory and create a GPO Group Policy Object. For more info http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/techinfo/planning/activedirectory/denad.asp

this link just has some info on how it works. Not exact steps to do exactly what you want.

I need to deactivate for all users (but administrators) the option to block the PC on WIN2K (an option when you press Ctrl+Alt+Del)
Thanks

TechNet Article I Q174840 tells you how to disable the Lock Computer, Change Password and/or the Task Manager buttons on the Security dialogue box (the ctrl+alt+del window). Here is what it says to disable (gray out) the Lock Computer button:

Run Regedt32.exe and add the following value(s) to the registry:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion \Policies\System\ DisableLockWorkstation = 1 (REG_DWORD Hexadecimal value)

NOTE: The above registry key is one path; it has been wrapped for readability.

Now, I just did this on a 2000 Server box, and I had to create the System key first. Then the DisableLockWorkstation value.

Cool!

Here is the URL for the TechNet article:

(please remove any spaces)

Hope this helps.
