OPEN DATA FILES IN A FOLDER

by SyscoKid In reply to OPEN DATA FILES IN A FOLD ...

The message ' No more than 10 data files in the same folder can be used at one time' is caused by 'lock' files remaining in the system after an ungraceful exit from MYOB. When you open a data file a lock file is created which serves as a data base as to who is using the data file. When that user exits MYOB the lock file is deleted. If the system should crash or if the user does not close MYOB and the computer shuts down, the lock files remain on the system. Once there are 10 lock files on the system you will not be able to access your data file.

If you are experiencing problems with your computer freezing or failing on a continual basis, you may want to investigate the cause of this. Not closing your data file in the correct manner can cause your data file to become corrupt. It is recommended that you verify your data file.

The complete fix iis too long to post here. You can read it at:

Did you have more than 10 account files open at the same time from the same folder?

Does your software allow opening files from more than one folder? If so, copy/move some of them over, at least temporarily.
