Open hyperlinked .wav file in Excel

Hi

I’m making a program in Excel to gather some data. I need to play a .wav file and then write the data. I am able to insert the files hyperlinked, however, it is not possible to rewind/forward etc. Therefore, I have got 3 qs;

1. Is it possible to use another media player as the standard player for excel? I would like to have a window opened op next to the file.

2. Or do I need VBA programming in order to do so?

3. Or would anyone recommend another way to gather data? I basically have 20,000 files, and I need to attach 3-5 words to each file. Any suggestions?
