open port 80

There is a procedure to close port 80 in Win XP but how can I close it in Win 98 SE?

Personally I despise the free ZoneAlarm and Sygate firewalls as I find them obtrusive and mainly ineffective BUT, that's the EASIEST way to lock out port 80 with Win98.

Make sure you have ALL security updates and download a freebee copy of a Firewall from somewhere like CNET or ZDNEt and it will let you shut down port 80.

If you find that the free firewalls are more hassle than they are worth, I agree and sorry for recommending them.

Port 80 is the main used for internet access why would you want to close that port?

Port 80 is the main used for internet access why would you want to close that port?

I have "Webshots" on most of the computes here at work. The program pops up a small reminder window randomly. When this window pops up it minimizes the dos window that is currently open and is really anoying. I am guessing that it comes in on port 80.
