Open Ports in Windows XP SP2 (without Firewall)

By sad107 ·
Hi,

I would like to know how can I open ports in windows XP, such as my FTP port?

Please note that my Firewall is disabled and the ports have been closed by a spyware program called Norton Security scan.

Is there any dos command to open the port or am I stuck and have to reinstall Windows?

Doesn't work...

I do not have any norton anything installed.
The "Norton security scan" was a trial bundled with shockwave. It was so crappy that not even its help button worked.

I completely uninstalled it but the changes it made remain.

I do not use any firewall and I am connecting directly to the internet, no routers.

Unless Windows's firewall is active even when disabled, then I do not know what the problem might be.

I would humbly suggest that if you are going online with no firewall then your system is infested with all manner of virus, spy, & bloatware by now.
