opening files as email attachment

By Oz_Media ·
I am building an HTML based library for our LAN.
I want users to be able to select a PDF file and when they click the link, it opens their e-mail client with the PDF as an attachment. I use Macromedia Dreamweaver, FLASH, Fireworks and Freehand, should be some way of doing this right?!?

I'm confused

is your goal not to allow the user to view the file? If you install the latest version of Acrobat on their PC, clicking a PDF link should open the PDF file right in Internet Explorer. I cannot understand why you would want to open an email application in this manner, unless the user was clicking on the link so they could email the attachment. The only method I know of anything of this sort is IE6's feature that allows a function panel to popup when a user mousesover an image, providing the options to print/save/email the image, or open their My Pictures directory.
