Opinions wanted…

I have a brand new P4 1.8g, 256MB DDR running WIN ME. I am seriously considering upgrading to XP Pro. I already have excess to a copy, but I would like some knowledgeable opinions first. What I mainly hope to achieve is a very stable and smooth running system (everyone’s dream). Is this a good OS for me to consider. I use my machine for mainly music programs and games. Thanks!
