Opinions wanted on software for elderly population!

By tsrevere ·
Hi, I just did the math and it turns out the average age of my customers is 73. Which explains why lots of my calls are for print too small, picture too small and I can't get the plug in/out. But I am also getting a increasing number of calls for help to make the computer simpler and easier for them. Too many clicks and they have forgotten where they were going.
Share your wisdom with me, please.

Drop the resolution down to 800 x 600.

You can adjust many settings in Display Properties to make fonts, scroll bars, and other window features larger, wider, etc. You can also tweak the settings in many programs.

Try one of the high-contrast color schemes.

Internet Explorer Kiosk Mode

iexplore -k page

e.g.
iexplore -k page www.google.com

Opera also has a Kiosk mode.

This is not meant to be an insult....
in some elderly households, one person is very comptent, and the other is not.

So the kiosk mode can be used by someone who has fairly severe dementia or poor vision to surf the web without any muss or fuss.
