optical drive is jammed in bay

By nancigiuffre ·
Dell Inspiron 1300, running XPhome. CD/DVD drive newly replaced. Old drive came out as per manual instr., new drive didn't want to seat properly, and now, jammed tight in case and do not want to prod roughly and damage laptop.
Any ideas how to get it out and try to reseat it again - properly.??

Thank you.

Well most times it is the Plastic Cover Plate on the front

Of the Drive that catches on the housing not the actual drive.

Assuming that you actually checked that it is the same drive type all that should be required is to open the drawer by applying light pressure to allow clearance and then slide the Drive out after making sure that the retaining screw/s have been removed.

Personally I've never had a problem replacing NB Optical Drives but I double check everything before attempting to fit a new drive as I have been caught a few times with a SATA Drive supplied as an IDE Drive.

try to lever it out with a scribe or a large safety pin. Try working around it as you go. Are you sure that it is the right Drive.
