Brief history, I am contracted to a bank. Had an IT dept.,but gone for years. Has a general manager who writes down things he has learned, now called Dir. of IT. I cam in to migrate to XP and found out that I also need to migrate the data from an Optical system to the XP server they use. The data is all banking records that by some Fed. law that says it has to be keep for 7 years. The problem is the old system is propritary no other software on it, ie dos. It is not networked, can not be networked. I am not to do any thing to the system but transfer files to the XP server. It has serial ports on it but it is 200 feet from the server room. And the operations people need to use it every day. I was told it has to be done within my contract time frame, ten weeks. And I have the migration problems like hardware, software things to do at the same time! Any help?
