Optimizing Win2k services

By cullenrw ·
I'm trying to get the best performance out I can out of our Citrix server by disabling any unnecessary services that may be running. What services can I safely disable, and what other steps can I take to improve the servers performance. It is a Windows 2000 server running in a WinNT domain.

Optimizing Win2k services

by mike_mds In reply to Optimizing Win2k services

A good start would be Phil Cox's guide to hardening win2k at:

http://www.systemexperts.com/win2k/hardenW2K12.pdf

(remove any spaces from above link when cutting/pasting)

It contains a list of necessary services for 2k to run correctly and be more secure. I would also check M$'s TechNet site for articles there (there are some, I just don't remember specific article numbers).

Good Luck.
