Optimum Online Setting

Hi
My boss needs me to setup her Mac Laptop for optimum cable connection for internet. I never used Mac computer. So I don't know even how will be the network neighbourhood settings and where would I find that also which protocol to support that. Please guide me. Detail info would be highly appreciaed.

I need more info. To what (DSL, cable, office
network) are you connecting, (of applicable)
what other computers are connected, what
version of the Mac OS are they using? There is
no "Network Neighborhood" in the Mac
environment, and you'reusing what's called a
Control Panel to establish your settings.

You didn't say what system she is using and wether you
have static or DHCP for the office.
Optimum setup is as follows; TCP/IP control panel or
network settings depending on what system you have
is DHCP. You need to give cablevision the MACaddress of the cable modem. Mail server is
mail.opttonline.net. This is a very simple setup. If
needed, you may set up a config for this and a separate
one for the office by holding 'apple' key nad 'k'. There is
no network neighborhood on a mac.

Making a bunch of assumptions: Simply chose DHCP in the
network control panel and connect the modem to the
ethernet port of the Mac. You should be good to go. Give
us some more info and we can give you more details.
