Oracle: 92% operating margin on services

By CG IT ·
Here's a really good article on Oracle and where it's gargantuan profits come from.

http://www.informationweek.com/news/global-cio/interviews/showArticle.jhtml?articleID=220000978&pgno=1&queryText=&isPrev=

A hint: Comes from services and that's because there's no other company around offering anything like Oracle that they switch to.

If there were, Oracle would be toast and they might be toast if database Cloud Computing takes off.

Interesting article

The only quibble I have is that I would have liked to see a comparison to some other software giants (SAP, for instance) that also seem to rely heavily on consulting. I wonder if this is an aberration/exception, or if it is fairly normal for enterprise software providers.

In any event, thanks for posting. Definitely worth the read!
