I’ve lived for 53, approaching 54 years (my brain slightly longer, but that’s another story [or is it?])…
When I was a kindergarten kid, I was taught to eat my carrots and all the other despicable veggies that little kids get forced to eat. If someone had ever shown me WHY I should eat those veggies, maybe I’d have slightly more teeth now, maybe I’d be slightly healthier now, maybe not, maybe I’d still be just the overweight bloke that I am.
But consider another point: how many of us actually know where each veggie came from?
I’ll start the ball rolling with the fact that I always considered the common CARROT to be British – but it appears that it only came to Britain (Brittanica) with the Romans. The Romans found it (stole it) when they over-ran the Egyptians.
