OS/2 KEYBOARD HELP

Hello everyone and thanks for your time! I have an issue with my OS/2 keyboard and I was wondering if you could help me out. I recently bought a USB mouse and today I went to use it with my PC. The problem started when I plugged it into a USB port while the computer was still on. Right after that the keyboard stopped working. The mouse works great but I can’t get the keyboard to work now.
I tried restarting several times but that doesn’t seem to help. Also I checked the Keyboard properties in the Control Panel and it appears as if there isn’t any device plugged in.
I think the keyboard might be broken but I don’t have another PC to try it on. If you have any helpful ideas please feel free to reply.
