OS X slowdowns on a windows domain

By k.podbielniak ·
Hello all,

I have been chasing some strange behavior for a couple of weeks.

Mid November one of our OS X users mentioned that access to our network was incredibly slow. Opening a large Quark file either took forever or timed out. After 3 reboots on the client, things worked fine...for a few days, where after the morning reboot he was back to working incredibly slow.

He is running 10.4.x (latest 10.4 release) of OS X, and our servers are windows 2003 with all latest patches applied.

Now it seems that the problem of every couple of days happens daily, but once he establishes a fast connection, everything is fine until the next reboot.

the software package DAVE 6.x (latest release of 6.x) is installed, and we tried version 7.x, and without Dave, and the results are the same.

The strange thing is, only 2 people (both Macs) are having this issue, all our other OS X users and windows users don't experience any problems.

Any ideas where I can look?
