I am trying to install Windows Enterprise server 2003 on a Compaq Presario 5304. With 512 MB RAM I get an error Out of memory or you may have a disk with corrupt files. at the point where it is supposed to format a newly created 4GB partition on an 80GB Drive. If I add a 3rd 256MB Chip to bring total RAM to 768MB the machine locks up before that at the point where it says “starting Windows” This happens with both a full version of the program and a 180 day eval copy. at the exact same point. All the memory is PC100. 3 Chips at 256MB ea.
