Outlook 2000 gets "Illegal Operation"

By hmccarty ·
PC has an Intel board, processor & 128MB Intel memory.

Running Windows 98 second edition
MS Office 2000 Prof

Problem: User gets the "Illegal Operation" when in Outlook. There are no device conflicts or errors. I Re-installed Windows and Office 2000 then installed the latest Windows and Office 2000 updates. I ran INBOX repair tool and even created a fresh mailbox. I have ran Norton System Works, ScanDisk and Defrag.

The only thing this client does "non-standard" is to use Word as his email editor. I turned this off and he still had the problem.

Anyone have any suggestions?

I ran into a similar problem after installing an HP 1100A personal printer. If you have installed this printer go to the toolbox and make sure that Outlook is not listed in the scanning portion.

Thanks! Does not apply here. He is running an Epson Stylus.
I failed to mention that there is a PDA (3Com Palm III) attached to this PC.
