Outlook 2000 junk mail

By georgiejr ·
Is there a file that Outlook 2000 uses when it tries to filter junk mail, that is, words it looks for to filter out junk mail. If there is, where is it so I can add words into it.

I have received a lot of junk mail and I want to stop it before it gets to my mail box. The Junk Mail feature only works after you do receive it. I want to be more pro-active, filter it out so I do not receive them.

Thank you.

Look for a file called filters.txt in your Office folder.

I take it back. Filters.txt just tells you what is in the default list. You can edit it but it has no effect on the filters themselves.

Try this instead:

How do I edit Outlook email filters?

Display the Inbox and Click on Organize on the Standard Toolbar.
Click on Junk E-mail.
Click the click here link.
To change the commercial e-mailers list, Click on Edit Junk Senders.
To change the adult content senders list, Click Edit Adult Content Senders.
Add, edit or delete names from each list then Click on OK.
Click on Back to Junk Mail.
Click the Organize button to remove the window.

This works! Found it here:

There is no way to do what you want with what Microsoft gives you. You will need to seek out a third party solution. Sorry, I can't help you with anything specific, but I believe I saw something in TechRepublic before about this same subject. Try a search in the technical Q&A area. Good Luck!
