outlook 2000 not allowing user to log on

By symesd ·
Setup a new workstation and Outlook and all the configuration in "Mail" (control Panel) but when I try to enter Outlook it says I don't have permission for the email folders. How do I give permission to this network user login so email can be checked?

Had the same problem. Setup depends on which version of Windows is on the workstation, but bottom line - Outlook requires login authentication on the workstation. Otherwise, it won't let you in. If you're on a network, you should have MS Client in network config. If not, add the MS client for networks and that will bring a login window up. With or without a password, logging in gives you entry and use of Outlook. Let me know how that works out by using "Post a comment".

If the user can logon to the network ok:
Go to the Mail applet in control panel and view the properties for the Exchange server service, click on the Advanced tab and change the Logon network security option to None.
When set this way, everytime Outlook is run it will prompt the user for name and password.
