Outlook 2000 Offline viewing of Contacts

by dbaideme . Updated 25 years, 2 months ago

Whats the trick?

Server – running Exchange 2000 on Windows 2000 server.

Client – running Win98 and Outlook 2000.

I have the client setup to use offline folders and synchronise on exit which it does.

The problem is when you turn a laptop on without being connected to the network and attempt to open Outlook you are never prompted to work offline. It will continue to look for the domain and just timeout. If I cancel past this I am unable to view my offline content.

Note: If I plug into the network turn on the laptop and cancel past the logon prompt I am able to start Outlook and have it prompt me to work offline where I am able to access my content. (I removed the network cable after canceling past the logon prompt just to makesure the info was not coming from the server.)
