Outlook 2000 PST file problems

by jwil . Updated 16 years, 11 months ago

I have seen many discussions on the internet regarding defective PST file issues. Until now I have not seen satisfacory answers. I hope somebody can bring more knowledge into the community,
On our network we use PST files as a backup method for an overloaded exchange system.
I have had already 3 occasions where a PST archive could not be read anymore.
Example:
– New PST file made manually
– Mails copied onto this PST files (in Outlook)
– Closed PST file and copied onto CD
– Retrieve from CD for restore purpose
– File NOT readonly
– I get errors like:
* “Properties for this information service must be defined prior to use”
* “The file [filepathh] is not a file for private folders.”
– Openening the next time gives the error
* “The file [filepathh] is not a file for private folders.”
– Repair tool does not retrieve anything
– Tried opening in Office2003
– Tried using it as an archive pst file
– Tried importing

Nothing works

Who has ANSWERS?

Kind regards, Jeroen
