    Outlook 2000– Resource Scheduling

    Locked

    by cstribling ·

I am research setting up our conference rooms as resources so we can utilize Outlook 2000’s automated resource scheduling functionality. I understand that each room has to have a mailbox account, resource scheduling setup, etc.

My dilemma is how to allow staff to view the calendars so they can see what’s schedule throughout the month prior to booking. Outlook won’t allow certain folders (I guess attached to an mailbox) moved to a public folder. What other options do I have available? Should I create short-cuts to the calendars on the Outlook Bar under a group for Conference Rooms. And if so, what is the easiest way to deploy it to all workstations?

    Thanks.

through outlook you can view anyones calendar that has proper permissions set. When setting up the resource mailbox, set the permissions on the calendar to let everyone have reviewer right.
Then through Outlook select File>Open>Other Users Folderthen select the resource and choose calendar. People are able to view the calendar just like their own.
If you wish to work with publishing forms the availability view from answer one, works well, but does not give you the familar calendar view ofOutlook (you get the meeting request view)

      Hello,

The functionality of the “Meeting Request” will provide what you are asking for. If the conference room has a mailbox, its free/busy information should be published to the server. The attendee availability tab will allow the user to few when the room is available. Also, for other options, check out this link: http://slipstick.com/calendar/skedresource.htm

      Regards,
