Sorry, that's not it; what I'm looking for is a way to alter the initial splash screen that is seen when Outlook 2000 is started.

To go out on a limb, I do not believe Microsoft provides any supported means for disabling the splash screen. I have not seen an option to do so in Outlook 97, 98, or 2000.

Plus, looking at the help files and online knowledge base there is no mention of a command line switch to disable to splash screen.

If you are wanting to edit the company name, etc. There are articles on the Microsoft KB regarding this.

OFF2000: How to Change the Company Name Information After You Install Office

I also took a stab at reviewing Outlooks object model. Typically when using VBA (as an example to launch one program from another) using CREATEOBJECT the splash screen nor the application will be visible unless specified in code. However Outlook does not expose a visible property, so even though you can start Outlook this way you can't make the applicaton window readily appear.

So I don't know what exactlyyou are after but I don't believe Outlook will accomodate you.

Not a solution, but at least made it
clear that a solution was not likely,
anyway. Points awarded for sheer
effort. Thanks.

The most common thing my users want to do is change the name that appears. To do this, open WORD (yes!!), go to Tools - Options - User Info, and change the name. Voila--the new name appears on all the O2k splash screens, including Outlook.

Great idea, but not all Outlook
users have Word.
