Outlook 2000: Travelers

Outlook 2000 / Exchange Server 5.5
In the case of travelers, we need a solution that isn’t limited by bandwidth restrictions during a dial-up session. Currently we use offline folders. However synchronization during dial-up is a slow process. Have considered user .pst on a home directory on a seperate server. The downside to using .pst is free/busy on the calendar. Does anyone have a faster process they have implemented for travelers?
