Outlook 2003 connection issue

By Mikebyrne000 ·
I have a machine on the network thats having issues connecting Outlook to the exchange server.

When Outlook first starts up it seems to take ages to startup and freezes. After 2-3 minutes an error appears:

"Unable to connect to the exchange server"

Once the user cancels out of the error it connects.

Any ideas on what could be causing this issue, or how I can go about resolving the problem?

It almost sounds like it's trying to connect 2 times....

Seeing how you can only specify one Exchange account in Outlook....have you tried just uninstalling Office & reinstalling it to see what happens? Maybe delete the OST file & create a new one also..You wouldn't lose any files but you would have to set up any email accounts again.

Try Detect and Repair first, if you haven't

It fixes files and registry keys and very often will save you from having to do something more complicated. Obviously if only one machine is affected it is either that machine's connectivity or a glitch in the Outlook client itself.

Or you could create a 2nd profile and/or log in as yourself to see if the connectivity issue is profile-specific.
