Outlook 2003 hyperlinks opening to home page

By BrianBooher ·
I am having an issue with a Windows XP Pro machine running Outlook 2003.
The problem is that when you click on a link inside an email, IE will open, but only go to the homepage. it can be as simple as going to the Yahoo website and it will not go there.
it makes no attempt to go to the desired website unless you copy and paste.
Is there a setting in Outlook that does this or should I suspect some form of malware?

You can suspect malware if your system is displaying other symptoms. But, there are many things that will cause this. One thing to look at are the security settings in IE itself. Another thing would be to check the settings in your anti-virus software. Many of them will block clicking of URL's from within email (after all, it's not safe to do that). Yet a third thing to check, and probably the culprit, are 3rd party TOOLBARS that you have installed. The Google toolbar has a site blocker on it and so do many others. Uninstall those toolbars, or at least disable the blockers, and I'll bet your problem goes away.
