we have a domain with approx. 125 users, profiles are stored on a windows 2003 server, the problem we are having is some users log in in the morning and open outlook 2003 and they get the message “outlook is opening for the first time retrieving mailbox settings” i check the users profile, and sometimes the profiles has stayed the same (C:\documents and settings\username) and sometimes after username there is .domainname ext. i understand the .ost rewriting in this case but it is also rewriting when it was already created. however when i explore it is like the .ost file was never there and it has to recreate it. does anyone have information on this. i don’t know if the global profile is the problem or the local profile is the problem because local settings are not written to the global profile on the 2003 server.
