Outlook 2003 Sound Notification for High Importance Email

    Locked

    by akassam ·

How do I turn off the sound notification for High Importance Emails. I have already configured Outlook 2003 to turn off all inbound mail notifications, but a sound still plays when a High Importance email is received.

      Check Rules & Advanced Options

First, check for a Rule that may be in place to play the sound:
Click Tools | Rules and Alerts…

Next, check the Advanced email options:
      Click Tools | Options
      Click the “Other” tab
      Click Advanced Options
Ensure that there’s no check in the “Provide feedback with sound” box

[Note: When you select or clear the Provide feedback with sound check box, the setting affects all Microsoft Office programs.]

If that’s not it, there’s another place to adjust sound notifications:
      Tools | Options
      Click Email Options
      Click Advanced Email Options
Make sure there’s no check in the “Play a Sound” box under “When new items arrive…”

That’s all I can think to check for now. I hope that helps!

        Cisco Viewmail

        by akassam ·

In reply to Check Rules & Advanced Options

I found that we use Cisco Unity Viewmail to link out Voice Mail system to our Exchange Server. The setting I was looking for is in Tools->Viewmail Options -> Notification -> Play Urgent Message Sound

        Thanks for you response!
