Outlook 2003 Sound Notification for High Importance Email

By akassam ·
How do I turn off the sound notification for High Importance Emails. I have already configured Outlook 2003 to turn off all inbound mail notifications, but a sound still plays when a High Importance email is received.

Check Rules & Advanced Options

by Beth Blakely In reply to Outlook 2003 Sound Notifi ...

First, check for a Rule that may be in place to play the sound:
Click Tools | Rules and Alerts...

Next, check the Advanced email options:
Click Tools | Options
Click the "Other" tab
Click Advanced Options
Ensure that there's no check in the "Provide feedback with sound" box

If that's not it, there's another place to adjust sound notifications:
Tools | Options
Click Email Options
Click Advanced Email Options
Make sure there's no check in the "Play a Sound" box under "When new items arrive..."

That's all I can think to check for now. I hope that helps!

Cisco Viewmail

I found that we use Cisco Unity Viewmail to link out Voice Mail system to our Exchange Server. The setting I was looking for is in Tools->Viewmail Options -> Notification -> Play Urgent Message Sound

Thanks for you response!
