I was hoping someone could offer me some insight since I can’t find any help anywhere else so far. We have a primary site running the Exchange 2000 server and 5 remote sites over a hardware VPN. Everything else seems fine – network browsing, f&p sharing, etc. DNS is backed up by simple LMHOSTS files. Protocols are TCP/IP and NetBEUI. Each site is subnetted correctly. (DHCP at home site, static at remotes – all on a 10.x.x.x network)
The problem we run into is using Outlook 2000 (identical machines at home site and remote sites) will hang the program at the remote sites almost always (sometimes randomly) while primarily receiving mail and sometimes while writing mail. No POP3 is being used. Is this maybe an RPC problem?
The VPN hardware is supposed to let everything be transparent and we are all using frac T1’s. However there is no problem at the home office so it baffles me. ANY insight would be much appreciated. Thanks.
