Outlook 97 E-mail problems

By tchieng ·
I have a user on Windows 98 with Office 97 SR2. She's using MS Outlook as her e-mail client. Recently, she's been getting simple and plain e-mail message in the form of a text attachment. She has to literally open the attachment in notepad just to view the text. I'm not sure why this is so. Anyone know what's going on? What settings have changed or do I need to change? Thanks.

When she opens these emails as a text attachment, is this for every email or for a select few? What type of mail format is she using? If she creates a new email and sends to herself, how does this message appear when she opens it?

This is only for a select few. She uses either HTML or Plain Text format. It shouldn't matter should it?... because she's receiving, not sending. E-mailing herself came through fine. I'm thinking it's just a different client-end thing (such as AOL, etc.). Thanks for your response. The question and points are still left open if you want another stab at it.

Is there another way to open text attachments? I always thought that attachments are just that, attached and not part of the viewable message? or have I missed something in the question?

You missed something in the question. Thanks for the response anyway. Take another stab at it if you want -- the question is still open and points still available.
