Outlook 97 with Exchange Server 5.5

By memg ·
My Marketing Dept is trying to send out a mailing. They would like the "From" part of the email to show the company name and not theirs. Where and how is this change made to make this happen. Any help would be appreciated.

Outlook 97 with Exchange Server 5.5

by curlergirl In reply to Outlook 97 with Exchange ...

The "From" field is generated by Exchange from the mailbox display name. In order for anyone to send out a mailing showing the company name intead of their name, you would have to change the mailbox Display Name on the server. However, this would change the "From" field for ALL of the user's email, not just a single mailing, until you changed it back. Another way you could accomplish what you want would be to create an Exchange mailbox with the company name as the mailbox and display name. Make the person who sends the email the primary NT user of the mailbox. You could also add other NT users as users of the mailbox if more than one person needs to send these mailings. Then, on the individual's workstation(s), create an Outlook profile that opens that mailbox. When the user wants to send email with the company name instead of his/hers, they would open Outlook using that new profile instead of their normal one. Hope this helps!
