outlook 97

I have a user that gets a Dr Watson error when he opens outlook 97. (access Violation {0xc0000005}, address:0x00000000). Can anyone help me with this. The user has NT on this PC.

This question should really be posted to Technical Q&A. There's a link for it just below where it says "SEARCH:" at the very top of the page, beside the TechRepublic logo.

It looks like you're just getting memory conflicts. This likely means that some system configuration issues have arisen, which can happen over time as system files and the registry of Windows systems get corrupted with malware activity and/or installs and uninstalls of various software products over time. You'll probably have to uninstall and reinstall the offending software to clear up the problem, and even that may not do it.

You might also try some reigstry-cleanup software, like Registry Mechanic.

If none of that works, you may be stuck with having to reinstall the OS. There are other things that someone knowledgeable (such as myself, or another consultant) might be able to try before committing to an OS reinstall, but I sincerely doubt I'd be able to diagnose it more clearly than this in an online discussion forum, so I won't try.
