Outlook 98 POP 3 problem.

by john . Updated 24 years, 6 months ago

I admin 12 machines, all setup almost identically with Outlook 98 as their e-mail clients. On one machine my user occasionally gets that message that states the “POP3 server cannot be found.”

What’s confusing is that she’s the only one who gets it AND she only gets it occasionally (average of about twice a day). But she checks her e-mail much more than twice a day (almost every hour). Some days she gets this message a lot more than twice. Other days she won’t get it all.

Here’s what I’ve done: I’ve check all configurations in the Mail Properties dialog against another machine (mine) that has never once received that message. All settings are identical except that on hers I’ve move the “Server Timeouts” property up to 5 minutes. (I did this on a suggestion from a Microsoft article.)

I’m perplexed. If anyone can help, please do.

Thank you,
— John Osmond
