outlook broadcasting

By heather ·
I am trying to demonstrate setting up an online broadcast. When I try to set up a web folder on my hardrive just to demo (I know this will slow performance) I get through the wondows until it says that the folder is not a shared directory and shouldbe in the name \\servername\sharename. How do I set this up to work. I have 8 pcs networked through a 3com hub. Internet connection ISDN via ISP demon.

Hi Heather,

I'm not sure what you mean by online or outlook broadcast - I think you are talking about a Network broadcast message. It would depend on your network O/S as to how you would do this:

NT domain/workgroup: Using WINPOPUP (you can type this directly in the START\RUN.. box if you like), click Message\Send and then type your message in the box. Click on WORKGROUP if you want to send the message to everyone. In order for this to work, the WINPOPUP program must be loaded on each machine already (usually minimised).

Novell Netware: from a DOS prompt type SEND followed by your message in quotes and then EVERYBODY, so it would look like this - SEND "This is the message" EVERYBODY or from the server use the BROADCAST command.Hope this is what you mean..
