Outlook can't start

By schiff6 ·
Our server was infected with the Nimda virus. After the techs worked on the virus and told us we could come back online, my outlook would no longer work. When I clicked on it, I got the message "Outlook can't start". I am also unable to set a default printer on both my NT 4.0 machine and my 2000 Pro. Our server in WINNT 4.0 and I have both nt and 2000 machines I use. My Explorer is also having some strange actions. It often freezes up and says there is an error and to restart. Any suggestions as to what has happened? HELP

That sounds great.
The only chance is to solve the problem step by step.
1. Look with regedit what is under HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run and RunOnceEx
2.If there are entries export the key into a backupfile.
3.Delete the entries and all stuff from AutostartFolder
4.Restart the machine and look if you have any entry in your event (system and application)
5. If yes try to fix this first
6. If your event is clear start Outlook an look if the problem occurs.
7.If yes you have two posibilities
a)Remove Oulook and install again
b)Take the tools Regmon and filemon from www.sysinternals.com to trace where the problem is.
